Two weeks into my parental leave (which appropriate notice was given and I successfully closed out an engagement after 7+ months of working with the client), I received an unexpected, vague email letting me know I was being removed from the placement talent pool due to policy infractions. No phone call or additional context provided. This isn't the most ideal news you want to work through with a newborn.

Additionally, I am one that takes great pride in the quality of my work, so I care about feedback especially when it is in regards to extreme action like this to be taken. It took several attempts to get more specific feedback around why this decision was made, and in the end I received a short email response referencing a client email I sent 3 months prior - letting a client offically know I was unable to utilize all the monthly allocated hours (this was not a surprise to the client due to realtime communications) and that I was wanting to find ways to make up the hours. The end decision to be removed from the vChief talent pool because I could not complete monthly hours and communicated to the client I wanted to roll over hours was definitely a surprise, especially since I reached out multiple times during this situation asking for guidance and received little direction. I would have loved to have been able to talk through this infraction realtime with someone before it got to this point silently 3 months later.

That said, this company has shown a consistent pattern of not advocating for their talent pool and this off-boarding process was just another example of the lack of support provided. They take around 40%+ of the hourly fee they charge the client and do not provide any admin/operational/client services support directly to the talent pool. I also had to handle most of the BD process with my 2 client engagements (when I brought this up their lack of response to the prospect and myself, they said it was due to the holidays), onboarding of new clients was rushed and I also had to take point, and any time I reached out for questions around the client support process/practices it took multiple attempts to get a response (that ultimately lacked direction and/or clarity).

The pros of my experience with vChief: This was an interesting way to fill my client pipeline. I got to work on some cool projects with some smart people. And the vChief Talent Vetting/Onboarding Team was sooo lovely. I really enjoyed the initial qualification process to join the Talent Pool. NOTE: It is a rigorous process, and your required referrals are asked to provide a very thorough recommendation (2/3 referrals mentioned how time consuming it was to submit a recommendation).
