The DMV gets a bad rap. But if you are nice/civil and have your documentation, it doesn’t have to be a bad experience. We (I was helping my elderly parents complete an out-of-state process) had a great experience today (26 Sept 2024). If you get assigned to window #9, you will be in good hands. Just be sure to have all the documentation you need and the process will go smoothly.

Bravo!! I made an appointment online and was out the door within the hour with exactly what I came in for. Everyone I spoke with was extremely kind and pleasant to work with. Things felt organized and the process was painless. I'm so surprised by how easy they made a visit to the DMV!

Bought a vehicle with a Florida title. I did the two VIN checks, and paid the tax brought all the proper paperwork. They still denied it because the woman couldn't understand that the Florida title has a different format than the RI title. It was almost as if she thought I was trying to commit fraud. Ended wasting 3 hours of my time. Brought the same title to the Woonsocket DMV, no problems what so ever. How hard is it to read the title? Either way, thanks for wasting my time over an issue that was non-existent. LEARN HOW TO READ. The incompetence with this specific employee is astounding. This is discrimination against Florida and New Jersey residents moving here.

Today my daughter had a road test at 9 AM. She was so nervous, but Dan made her feel so comfortable and assured her there was nothing to be nervous about. These workers do such a good job in the oppressive heat. It was almost 90° this morning at 9am. Thank you so much for your hard work. After passing the test, we went inside the DMV and had a very pleasant experience. Everyone was very nice and helpful. They have a great team working at this facility. Thank you again

I always feel like I’m wanted and turning my self in when I’m going to the DMV in Cranston. And they never fail to prove me wrong. Once you get upstairs customer service is very bad. I’ve had several representatives who have been humiliating and just display a bad attitude regardless of the time of day. Effective customer service skills should be portrayed in working environments like this when dealing with hundreds and of people daily! Go back to training and pay attention, y’all delivery is MESSY!!!!

Book online, print forms, and show up! Fast service with a forms checking person upon arrival (halfway up the ramp to the left).
Make sure you read and print all of your required forms. Most out of state vehicles will need a VIN check at your local police department.
Appointment times are prompt and there are little to no lines after you have verified at check in that you have everything you need to complete your transactions

Best DMV. Friendly staff. The moment you enter the DMV, you can tell the positive vibes. Comparing to the several Mass DMVs that I have been to, RI DMVs are absolutely wonderful! Modern facility and outstanding customer service. The website is informative and there are staff to answer phone calls and help! Thank you for all the hardworking DMV staff! You are the best!
